Drawing and painting are my life-long passion. I obtained my BA degree in Art from University of California, Davis, and studied with artists at the time such as Wayne Thiebaud and Roy DeForest. Later my painting emphasis became watercolor and I've extended my studies with many fine artists who nurtured a deep love for painting and appreciation of the natural world that inspires it.

In my more representational works I favor free-flowing still life and landscapes done on location, but each genre presents its own challenges, struggles, and joys. You will see examples of my approach to several genres and media on this website,. An artist's work evolves over time with the desire to create and express. My paintings at this point vary from less representational to the frankly abstract, allowing free flow of color and abstracted elements with expressive exaggeration to communicate the "why." Important always is an element of mystery.

As an artist I am an explorer and as of 2016 I am learning the art of expression in ceramics.

Many public and private collections include my art such as the California Department of Aging and Kaiser Health System. My work has been featured in various venues : KVIE-PBS television auctions, galleries, newspapers, and magazines, I am very honored to have shown paintings in solo and group shows at several northern California galleries including the Art Foundry Gallery, Sacramento, Elk Grove Fine Arts Gallery, as well as the Governor's Office at the Capitol Building, Sacramento, and Crocker Art Museum's "Big Names, Small Art." A complete curriculum vitae is available by emailing me at

In addition, I am a member of the 8-member Sacramento-based artists' group," Kritikos ", which marked its seventeeth anniversary as a group in 2017. We do frequent group shows in addition to each member's own solo shows and projects.

Please note that at this time this website about my work is for information purposes only. My work is included frequently in shows around northern California.
