There's nothing like the exciting colors and endless variety in shapes, edges, and moods that flowers convey. I usually choose watercolor for these as I find it captures those special qualities of lively shapes and motion as well as subtle color gradations. Patterns in nature are enchanting, completely seductive to the painter.

Floral To the left is "Cannas."I look forward to seeing these lush tropical blooms year after year.More loosely painted is the "wet in wet" method used in "Red Hibiscus,"after rain in Hawaii. Expressing a Red Hybiscus drier, hot desert is "Southwestern Gold."Southwestern Gold This was inspired by my painting foray into the desert around Abiquiu, New Mexico. This place was magic for me.
